The AANPCB tests scope of practice, collaborative practice, telehealth regulations, documentation standards, and quality improvement — embedded in clinical vignettes rather than as standalone policy questions.

The AANPCB's process-based structure means professional practice questions often appear in the Plan domain (determining appropriate referrals, coordinating care, establishing collaborative agreements) and Evaluate domain (quality improvement, outcome measurement, practice reflection). A question about when to consult a collaborating physician tests both clinical judgment and professional role boundaries.

Key areas include DEA registration requirements, prescriptive authority limitations, the Ryan Haight Act for telehealth prescribing of controlled substances, incident reporting, and interprofessional collaboration.
