An 8-year-old girl has been diagnosed with ADHD, combined presentation, after a comprehensive evaluation including parent and teacher Vanderbilt scales, developmental history review, and school observations. She has no comorbid psychiatric conditions and no significant medical history. Her weight is at the 50th percentile, her height is at the 55th percentile, and her vital signs are within normal limits. Her parents have agreed to a trial of medication after behavioral interventions at school showed only modest improvement over the past three months. The PMHNP is selecting an initial pharmacological treatment and developing a monitoring plan.
